After Trump’s clash with Foo Fighters, musicians’ impact on the election in US has been growing ever since. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, a significant group of rock musicians has joined forces to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency. With Joe Biden nearing the end of his term, Harris has emerged as the Democratic frontrunner, with many in the music industry rallying behind her campaign. Among those stepping up are prominent rock acts like Evanescence, Living Colour, and other notable artists from the alternative, rock, and indie scenes.

In an effort to engage voters and raise funds, these artists are participating in the “Musicians for Kamala” livestream event, which took place on September 17. The event was organized by top music industry professionals in collaboration with the Harris-Walz presidential campaign. The livestream offered a space for artists and fans to come together in support of Harris, with the goal of driving voter registration, encouraging donations, and rallying support as the campaign enters its final stretch.

Hosted by veteran DJ Nic Harcourt, the event boasted an impressive lineup, featuring performances by Evanescence, Living Colour, L7’s Donita Sparks, and Devo, as well as folk-rock legends like Toad the Wet Sprocket’s Glen Phillips and Jack Johnson. Also on the list were rock icons such as Jefferson Starship and John Densmore of The Doors, bringing an exciting mix of music styles and generational talent to the virtual stage.
